My Slimming World Journey: From a Challenge to a Lifestyle
In 2017, my sister threw down a challenge I never saw coming – to join her in the Great South Run. At that time, I was far from being a runner and even farther from feeling confident about my fitness. Running 10 miles? That felt impossible. However, I decided to take on her challenge, and little did I know how much it would change my life.
My sister said to me to join Slimming World as I had put on some pounds and my uniform was getting tight. I found a local group but couldn't join as I wasn't getting paid until the following week, my sister sent me the money to join that night, so off I went to start my journey. My first week I came in with 6.5lbs off and was over the moon with the start.
With Slimming World’s support, I learned to embrace healthier eating habits, focus on portion control, and stay motivated through my group meetings.
Slowly, I began to feel stronger, fitter, and more determined. Training for the Great South Run became an opportunity to push my limits, and by the time race day arrived, I not only completed the run but also gained a newfound sense of achievement. That challenge from my sister was the spark I needed, and since then, I’ve continued to prioritise my health and fitness, making it a permanent part of my lifestyle. Slimming World didn’t just help me lose weight – it gave me the confidence to say 'yes' to new challenges and the tools to keep going long after the finish line.
I reached target on my birthday that year, yes I went to weigh in on birthday and boy was I pleased I did!
